Meet Nigeria's Foremost WellTech Startup HappiVibe

How HappiVibe is transforming Nigeria's mental health space as the nation's first WellTech startup, one call at a time.

When most people hear the word startup, they imagine apps, dashboards, and AI features popping up like party updates or pitch decks that look suspiciously powered by Canva and powered by prayers.

But every so often, a startup emerges that feels different from the techy vibes associated with Silicon Valley-like startups.

That is exactly where HappiVibe comes in. It is a company blending emotional well-being, technology, and good old-fashioned human connection to remind people that joy is still very much alive, even in a world where we get 100 WhatsApp notifications right after waking up.

With all these said, let’s have a hearty look into the story, services and impact of this uniquely heart-driven brand.

Origin story: How HappiVibe started spreading happiness

HappiVibe did not begin as a “big tech idea,” and it wasn’t the result of the next big social media brainstorming session, either.

Dubbed the Uber of Happiness, Its roots trace back to 2020 in the popular town of Oba, Anambra State, during a time when the world was emotionally overwhelmed.

The founder, Chukwuma Ezeh, who has previously co-founded a company, Gemdeconq Integrated Services, then served as an apprentice, had always held a simple belief:

Happiness is abundant, and it becomes richer when shared.

From that belief, he built a service dedicated to uplifting people using one of the most powerful tools of human connection in the modern age: a phone call.

What started as a small idea fueled by passion has grown into a company now headquartered in Akoka, Yaba, Lagos. Grew their Facebook Group where they began into almost 300k members, and made thousands of local and international calls.

They are supported by a dedicated team and recognized by programs like Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub, an endorsement that highlights the brand’s unique blend of emotional intelligence and technology.

Today, HappiVibe continues to evolve while staying true to its mission to make people smile, one call at a time.

What exactly does HappiVibe do?

At a panel session by The Iconic Brand Africa held at Ojota, Lagos, in November 2023, Chukuma responded to the story of how Happivibe began and where they see themselves in the tech startup industry, called Happivibe as being in the WellTech industry, an industry engineered by the advent of Happivibe.

If you have ever wished someone would call you simply to hype you up, celebrate you or comfort you, or you simply want to do the same for a loved one, then HappiVibe was built for you.

Their services revolve around emotionally intuitive, human-centred phone calls tailored to everyday needs.

So far, they’ve been able to create modular services under the generic calling service:

  • Celebratory Calls:

Perfect for birthdays, graduations, engagements or promotions. Even the soft life moments count, like finally completing that 8-hour course you kept postponing.

  • Appreciation Calls:

For moments when you want to say “thank you” in a way that feels warmer and more personal.

  • Reachout and Apology Calls:

Ideal for someone who is recovering, grieving, stressed or simply having one of those days. The team steps in gently with empathy and comfort.

  • Check-Ups and Self-Love Calls:

Personal boosters designed to uplift your mood, rebuild confidence and remind you that you matter.

The company’s approach is simple. Whether you are celebrating or healing, everyone deserves a little happiness delivered directly to them.

HappiVibe’s philosophy… more than a business

If you look through HappiVibe’s online presence or speak to anyone who has used their services, one thing becomes clear. The company genuinely prioritizes people over profit.

Their core values include:

  • Empathy
  • Emotional upliftment
  • Human connection
  • Relatability
  • Abundance of joy

In a world where most companies repeatedly say “We value our customers,” HappiVibe actually lives it. Call after call. Smile after smile.

What the future looks like for Happivibe Services

Ever since the launch in 2020, HappiVibe has shown significant progress, one of such is the uprising of similar calling services that seem to be doing well, indicating that the industry is strong, with good customer interest.

Additionally, the company has launched other sub business programs from Happivibes, the Vexxitt Program, a service that helps people cool off from mental issues and the AfroOptimism initiative.

Most startups fail between two and five years. Happivibe is past that, and we are highly optimistic that in a world where we are highly connected by the internet, but lonely, HappiVibe is not just filling a business vacuum, but solving an ever-present emotional problem in humanity, a true sign of a prosperous business.
